Our first gig supporting The Solomon Cole Band at Malones, Surfdale – 16th December 2017

The Domestics first proper gig at Malones Irish bar in Surfdale, Waiheke. We were invited to open for the Solomon Cole band … we felt totally unprepared and only had 6 songs ready, three covers and three originals – so we did them all!

Set list:

  • C’Mon Billy
  • Shame
  • Down By The Water
  • Wanna Be With You
  • Kitty Cat
  • Domestic Bliss    lyrics

We had an amazing reception and was great to be performing again – there were those there who remembered Larissa previous Waiheke based bands including ‘Tight Knickers’ and featured in the banter from the audience. We have already performed at a few open mics – a couple of times at the Music and Poetry evenings at Sandbar in Oneroa, and once at the Open Mic Jam Night at the Titirangi RSA Our music seemed to go down well and our unique combination of instruments sparked some interest – the ‘cello and melodi-horn (blowy keyboard thing) in particular. The gig got a great mention in the local rag – mostly because Solomon Cole were awesome – but we got an honorable mention and a few pictures in there as well. Thanks to Graham Hooper for the photos!

We’re most grateful to have been invited, we had a blast! Thanks to Dione who twisted our arms and wouldn’t take ‘no’ for an answer and to everyone who came to support us. What a great way tick off our first gig and to get the ball rolling …
